Open Fiber brings optical fiber to Assemini in Sardinia

Open Fiber brings ultra-fast fiber to the municipality of Assemini, in the province of Cagliari. Sardinian citizens will be able to access a service that will allow them to surf at up to 1 Gbps (Gigabit per second) in FTTH (Fiber to the home) mode, i.e. with optical fiber which for the first time will enter homes, schools, in companies and public offices.

The company led by Elisabetta Ripa has planned an investment of approx 3 million euros to be paid by the telecommunications company. The service is already available for 2.600 thousand real estate units already wired and it is expected to reach 8 by the end of the year. For a total laying of over 50 km of optical fibre.

Having an ultra-fast connection is essential, especially in the current context marked by the pandemic. The advantages are many: from teleworking to video surveillance, from online streaming to home automation up to dad and digital public administration services.

In addition, the project also includes the wiring free of charge of some sites of particular interest to citizens, thus strengthening the relationship between the municipal administration and citizens and increasing both the productivity and the competitiveness of the businesses present in the area.

The company operates exclusively on the wholesale market, does not sell fiber optic services directly to the end customer, but offers access to all interested market operators. To activate the service, citizens will have to contact an operator, once they have verified that their street address is covered. To do this, just go to the company's website and check the list of all partner operators with the related tariff plan proposals and an area where you can check if the fiber has arrived at your home.
