Open Fiber: +50% fiber optic requests in Latina

In recent months Open Fiber has recorded a strong increase in requests from citizens to access the fiber optic network built in recent months in the Pontine capital, in one year the activation requests have grown by 50%. The new ultra-fast network was built in FTTH mode (fiber to the home) thanks to a private investment of 11 million euro. The infrastructure is 143 kilometers long and, to achieve it, over 800 kilometers of fiber cables were laid which made it possible to connect 36 homes, offices and homes. Open Fiber has also offered to wire, on the recommendation of the Municipality, some sites of public interest including the headquarters of the Administration, the Duilio Cambellotti Civic Museum and the local police station.

The company will also connect, during 2021, over 4 additional real estate units in the peripheral areas of the Municipality which fall within the scope of the BUL Plan (Ultra Broadband) according to the provisions of the Infratel tender, a company of the Ministry of Economic Development.

Open Fiber is an operator wholesale only, builds the infrastructure and makes it available to all partner national and local operators on non-discriminatory technical and economic conditions. The main Open Fiber partner operators, together with local Internet service providers, are already marketing services on the ultra-fast network built in the city: if citizens want to request activation, it is therefore necessary to verify on the site street number coverage, choose the preferred rate plan and contact one of the operators present to then start surfing at high speed.
