New Global Thinking Foundation Financial Education Glossary

Global Thinking Foundation, a non-profit foundation that promotes financial literacy projects and initiatives, in collaboration with Pictet AM, the asset management division of the Pictet Group, presents at the Salone del Risparmio the new updated edition of the financial education glossary "Parole di Economia and Finance". The volume aims to be an accessible tool for everyone, easy to understand and useful in a transversal way for the end saver, who can consult it to understand the differences between the various investment instruments; for the financial advisor, who could find the key to simply explaining some topics to his clients; for teachers, who have to make up for the lack of compulsory teaching of economic-financial subjects in some courses of study; for families, because more and more often children and young people ask for the meaning of technical terms that have now entered everyday language thanks to the media.

The volume begins with the basics of economics and macroeconomics, deals with a brief history of the economy from Ancient Greece to the latest events on international markets, and then goes on to deepen the part dedicated to the various investment and savings instruments.

"Our project to create a Glossary of financial education was born about two years ago, thanks to the collaboration of the VI Finance Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, and 150.000 of them were distributed free of charge to high school students and teachers - said Claudia Segre, President of the Global Thinking Foundation – The volume is part of a series of financial education and literacy activities and projects that the Foundation carries out for citizens”.

“The financial education glossary represents a splendid initiative to bridge one of the gaps that still distinguish Italy from the rest of the European community: the level of financial literacy which we believe to be a strategic lever for the well-being of the country. – commented Manuel Noia, Country Manager Italy of Pictet AM – For years we have implemented this awareness in a portal dedicated to financial education (www.pictetperte.it), which fully shares the aims of the Global Thinking Foundation initiative, whose contents formed the basis for a positive and fruitful collaboration in this important new project.”

Global Thinking Foundation Founded in 2016, the Global Thinking Foundation was created with the mission of promoting financial education, targeting families and women, students, investors and savers. The foundation has embarked on a path of innovation and research in this area, developing projects for the dissemination of economic citizenship and supporting a value-based approach to economics and finance. The GLT Foundation's commitment is therefore aimed at supporting an aware culture of savings and its management: financial education is in fact a necessary objective, which must be accompanied by the process of improvement - already underway - of the regulation of the financial system, so that the latter can be more solid, secure and transparent.
