Nord Stream, Gazprom cuts gas supplies to Europe again: at 20% of capacity since July 27

Gazprom makes Europe tremble again with new gas stops sent through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. The Russian energy giant shuts down another turbine for maintenance but if the restoration of the one sent to Canada is not released, the volumes will drop to 33 million cubic meters per day, a 50% cut compared to the current approximately 60 million cubic meters, which already represented a 40% flow.

Gazprom: "Sanctions hinder pipeline maintenance"

The Russian giant explained that it received the documentation from Siemens Energy on the missing turbine, which from Montreal still appears not to have arrived in Russia. "Gazprom has analyzed the documents, but must recognize that they do not remove the previously identified risks, and indeed raise further questions," he clarified in a statement. “Also, there are still open questions regarding the EU and UK sanctions, the resolution of which is important for the delivery of the engine to Russia and the urgent overhaul of other gas turbine engines for the Portovaya compressor station”.

A story that Germany does not believe. The main recipient of the gas sent via Nord Stream 1 replied that the turbine was expected for September and therefore cannot be the cause of the problems that led to the drastic flow reduction. No information is released on where the turbine is currently located. "This refers to obvious security concerns, and therefore we are not providing any information," a German government spokesman explained.

The effects on gas prices

The fear of new cuts has made gas prices go up. Following Gazprom's statement, August TTF futures in Amsteram rose to 176 euros per MWh, an increase of more than 6% since the start of the day.
