Nomisma increases its capital, among the new eligible shareholders Detsche Bank and Acri

A capital increase of one and a half million euros with the aim of settling the 2010 imbalance (about 500 thousand euros), but also of implementing a three-year industrial plan that will relaunch the activities. These are the steps that Nomisma is taking, the center for economic studies founded by Romano Prodi 30 years ago and today led by the president Piero Modiano, by Luciano Sita (vice president), by Piera Magnatti (director), as well as by Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, chairman of the Scientific Committee. A prestigious team that seeks to pour fresh resources into the business to prepare new projects.

“The capital increase – says the deputy chairman Sita, former chairman of Granarolo – is going better than expected. We will close this phase in September, after which there will be the possibility of opening the doors to new members as well. We have many important realities that could join, from Deutsche Bank to Acri, the association of banking foundations. In October, the whole route should be closed". Nomisma has always been a sort of public company (almost 60 shareholders appear on the site), with reference shareholders who have changed over time and who hold actual majority shares. At the top of this pyramid today is Sisag, an agri-food company owned by some of the main players in the sector, followed by Unicredit Merchant, Bnl, Mps.

“This increase – explains Sita – could rebalance the shares, without however actually changing the current ranking of shareholdings”. The choice is induced by the losses in 2010 and by the fact that 2011 was also uphill. “Our turnover is around four million euros – continues the vice president – we weren't forced to make this increase. However, we believe it is appropriate to relaunch the activity. This is in fact the premise of an industrial plan that we hope will lead Nomisma to caress its volumes and profitability. Until now we have been a point of reference in research for public bodies, but we want to open up more to private individuals and to sectors such as logistics and services, helping to find solutions that today, in the general economic crisis, are difficult to identify”.
