By 2012, Nokia will lay off 3.500 people. This was communicated by the Finnish telephone company itself, which in an official note announced its intention to interrupt a series of activities around the world. In detail, the plants in Cluji (Romania), Bonn (Germany) and Malvern (United States) will close their doors.
The group also reports that Jesper Ovesen has been appointed as the new executive chairman on the board of the joint venture Nokia Siemens Networks. As part of this project, the two multinationals, Nokia and Siemens, will provide new liquidity for 500 million euros each with the aim of "laying the foundations for strategic flexibility, productivity and innovation in sectors such as broadband mobile and related services”.
