Fines and taxes: from Monday the farewell of Equitalia, 6 thousand Municipalities will not be able to collect

From Monday, no more fines or municipal taxes. Not because Italians have suddenly become upright at the wheel, nor because the Municipalities are so full of resources that they no longer have to ask citizens for money. Simply no one will be entitled to enforce payments anymore. On May 20, the forced collection to convince the most riotous to pay the fines and local taxes will close its doors. It will happen in 6 Italian municipalities, out of a total of 8.

Equitalia, the national collection agency, has written to the mayors in recent days to ask them not to send more rolls. How come? The answer is simple: from 2011st July the law (i.e. the XNUMX Development Decree) provides that Equitalia will "cease its collection activities" for local authorities, so the new bills would have no chance of arriving in time for collection and would exclusively in administrative costs for the Municipalities.

In most cases, however, local authorities are not able to immediately replace Equitalia. In short, everything will be left to the good will of the individual. Since no one will be able to force them to pay anymore, mayors must hope that their citizens are full of civic sense. Or simply uninformed.
