Mps: Foundation sells 6,5%, shares soar on the Stock Exchange

The Monte Paschi di Siena Foundation sells new shares of Mps. Indeed, according to a note released today, the Foundation has reached an agreement for the sale of 6,5% of the capital of the Sienese institute, of which 4,5% to Fintech Advisory and 2% to Btg Pactual Europe. The sale price was set at 0,2375 euro per share.

"In order to contribute to the stability of the transferee's corporate structure - reads the press release - and to preserve the significant historical link with the reference territory, the Foundation has signed a shareholders' agreement with the buyers". This agreement, continues the note, "relates, among other things, to the governance of the Bank and to certain limits on the transfer of the shares conferred under the agreement (lock-up), as well as commitments to maintain the shareholdings, in the overall amount of 9 % of the Bank's current share capital (6,5% of the aforementioned purchasers and 2,5% of the Foundation)”.

The news of this further disposal by the Foundation gave a new impetus to Banca Mps' stock, which, after ending up in a volatility auction, resumed trading, gaining more than 10% by mid-morning. Trading volumes were very intense: in the minutes following the announcement, over 234 million pieces changed hands against an average of 456 million for an entire session. Mps also stands out as the most brilliant stock in the Italian list which, in the same minutes, travels in largely positive territory
