Moratorium on SME loans and guarantees: already 660 requests

In just two weeks, they were over 660 thousand Italian families and businesses who have asked to access the moratorium on loans or to the Guarantee Fund for SMEs. This was communicated by the task force set up to promote the implementation of the liquidity support measures launched by the Government to combat the coronavirus emergency (Mef, Banca d'Italia, Abi, Mediocredito centrale, Mise and Sace Simest are part of it).

In detail, they total a total of 75 billion euros the residual loans affected by the loan moratoriums until 3 April. The requests sent by the business world and accepted by the banks were around 437 thousand, for a total of 58 billion, while those arriving from families and professionals stopped at 227 thousand, at 17 billion.

Furthermore, the note published by the task force specifies that applications for access to the Gasparrini Fund for the suspension of the mortgage on the first home have reached a total value of almost 3 billion euro, while those for the moratorium on loans and mortgage installments exceeded 40 billion. Another 4 billion instead concern non-installment loans maturing before 30 September.

Regarding requests for guarantees on new bank loans for SMEs (including micro-enterprises), Mediocredito Centrale - which manages the Guarantee Fund - notes that the flow has not decreased despite the closures imposed by the coronavirus epidemic. On the contrary, there are "encouraging signs of holding".

In particular, Mediocredito Centrale received 9.972 requests for guarantees (for a financed amount of over 1,6 billion), of which 8.697 in implementation of the Cura Italia decree (almost 1,5 billion). The applications accepted were 8.571 (about 1,3 billion), of which 7.451 related to the March measure (almost 1,2 billion). The Management Board of the Fund has therefore decided to increase the weekly sessions so as to speed up the examination of the requests.
