The Ministry of Economic Development clarified yesterday evening the statements made in Brussels by Minister Flavio Zanonato, specifying that "as established by the National Energy Strategy and as stated by the minister himself in Parliament" the exploitation of shale gas "has never been taken into consideration ”.
According to the ministry, Zanonato “in answering journalists' questions, clarified that it is necessary to relaunch the national production of traditional oil & gas, however, as the Mise has recently reduced and better defined the marine areas of possible extraction. Finally, the minister limited himself to assessing that the sole importation of shale gas from the USA and other countries can be taken into consideration as an opportunity".
