Milan-San Remo, Nibali feat: attacks on the Poggio and wins

Sensational feat by Vincenzo Nibali at the Milan-San Remo. The Shark of Messina, winner of the Tour de France, the Vuelta and the Giro d'Italia twice, takes away an unexpected satisfaction at the age of 33: triumphing in the 109th edition of the spring classic, the almost 300 km race from the Lombard capital to the Ligurian city, which this year ran almost entirely in prohibitive conditions, with rain and cold.

Nibali, the first Italian to win Sanremo after 12 years (the last was Filippo Pozzato in 2006 on an all-blue podium with Petacchi and Paolini), took off on the Poggio (where he crossed the hill with a dozen seconds of advantage over his pursuers ) and resisted until the end, arriving alone on the legendary finish line in via Roma. He succeeds the Polish Michal Kwiatkowski in the roll of honor. Nibali was already third in 2012 when he won the Australian Gerrans.
