Weather: Snow in Northern Italy, but it won't last long

A perturbation is hitting the North-West in particular: by today snow is expected even at low altitudes in Piedmont and Lombardy, with possible snowflakes also in Turin and Milan - VIDEO.

Weather: Snow in Northern Italy, but it won't last long

The first low-altitude snow has arrived in Italy. The large cloud system that has landed in Western Europe, associated in turn with the huge Icelandic cyclonic vortex, is already causing a clear deterioration in the weather in Northern Italy. The disruption will be temporary and, as far as snowfall is concerned, limited to northern Italy: in fact, good weather is expected to return to the north on Thursday, with still cold temperatures but rainfall (only rain) which will move to the centre, especially in Lazio , and to the North-East.

In the meantime, snow is expected on the Wednesday afternoon in the plains, especially in Piedmont and Lombardy and - perhaps - also in the capitals Turin and Milan, more likely in the evening. At 15 pm in Milan the rain persists, but the temperature is rigid, around 1-2 degrees. According to the latest updates, the call for mild air at high altitudes could, however, limit the snowfall to Piedmont only, especially in the south-western sectors, but bad weather (rain or snow) will in any case affect the entire north-western sector (Liguria , Piedmont, Lombardy and part of Trentino).

As for a small rise in temperatures in the North, we will have to wait for the pre-Christmas weekend: on Saturday 22nd the maximum in Milan is expected to be around 6 degrees, the same in Turin, with 8 degrees in Aosta and even 12 in Trento and 14 in Genoa. This should continue until Christmas, with uncertain and partially rainy weather in the North, sun in the South and not excessively cold temperatures for the period.
