The great African heat was delayed, but from the end of July it exploded with full force. And it shows no sign of abating. Having archived a brief mid-August period which saw rain and thunderstorms throughout the North, with slightly lower maximum temperatures, this week a new sustained heat throughout the peninsula, especially from mid-week onwards.
In fact, the maximum temperatures, especially in the Center, will remain well above the 30 degree threshold: in the second part of the week in some capitals, 40 degrees will even approach, in particular in Bolzano, Bologna, Florence, Rome and Perugia. Saturday the theoretically hottest day, with the threshold of 40 degrees which will probably be broken through in Florence and Bologna, even if at the same time in the North thunderstorms will appear again, which will lead to a slight reduction in the heat on Sunday.
However, up to and including Wednesday Bulletin of the Ministry of Health does not report particular risks related to the heat: almost all the 27 provincial capitals examined are marked with a green dot, i.e. an absolutely normal heat, with zero dangers for people's health. However, it is probable that from Thursday the situation, especially in the big cities of the centre, will change.
