Merkel: insufficient reforms in Italy and France

Reforms in France and Italy are insufficient. German Chancellor Angela Merkel returns to the office on the subject of austerity in an interview with Die Welt. The EU Commission – she says – “has established a timetable according to which France and Italy will have to present further measures. This is justified because the two countries are actually going through a reform process. But the Commission also reiterated that what has been presented on the table so far is not enough. An opinion that I share”.

One week after the deadline by which Italy and France will have to present in Brussels the answers requested by the Commission on how to approach the parameters of the Fiscal Compact, the German position has thus arrived which reminds Jean Claude Junker to don't indulge in too much flexibility.

Merkel then spoke of Moscow's policy, which puts many neighboring countries of the European Union in difficulty. “Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine are three of our neighboring countries that have signed an agreement with the European Union in a sovereign way – explains Merkel -. Russia creates difficulties for these three countries. We also see that Russia tries to keep some countries to the west of the Balkans under its economic and political dependence”.
