A new chapter opens on the front of the endless clash between Mediaset and Vivendi. After the Mediaset shareholders' meeting approved the merger between Mediaset España and Mediaset Investment NV a month ago and the birth of MediaforEurope, the French shareholder immediately announced the battle and presented an urgent appeal to the Court of Milan, to ask for the precautionary suspension of the resolutions since according to the transalpines "the meeting was illegal". Today's news is instead that Vivendi confirms this move in Italy but at the same time, strengthened by the decision of the Court of Madrid which slowed down the merger, withdraw legal action in the Netherlands.

According to a Vivendi spokesman, the French group has in fact decided to withdraw the precautionary request presented in Amsterdam, which should have been discussed tomorrow, Wednesday 16 October, in relation to some articles of the Statute of MediaforEurope, the holding company in which they will merge Mediaset and Mediaset Espana: the decision comes following the measure , whereby the Court of Madrid has suspended the resolution of Mediaset Espanaeffectively blocking the progress of the merger project.

According to a source inside Vivendi, the French they will later evaluate whether to take legal action in the Netherlands of merit, always on the articles of the Statute relating to governance and increased voting rights. On the other hand, the appeal in Italy - which Simon Fiduciaria also joined - of the Mediaset Spa resolution of 4 September on the MFE project is confirmed: the hearing to discuss the precautionary suspension of the resolution is set for 30 October . The merits will instead be discussed in January 2020.

Vivendi's move was interpreted as a partially soothing message from the markets, and in fact Mediaset shares resumed their run on Piazza Affari, where in mid-morning they gained more than 1% towards 2,7 euros per share. in one session, moreover, more sluggish for the rest of the Ftse Mib. In the last month, following these events, the Alfa stock had lost almost 3%.
