Mediaset and Telecom push the stock market down

Today Piazza Affari was the worst list in Europe and lost 1,26% - Strong drops also for the major banks and for Eni but the Stock Exchange is waiting at any moment for the white smoke of the merger between Bpm and Banco Popular – Postal services and fashion are up – European stock exchanges are struggling.

Conditioned by Wall Street, Europe shed the morning's gains and closed the session mixed. Piazza Affari was dragged down by 1,26% in the afternoon by the decline in bank stocks and Telecom Italia. The market then looks to Bpm and Banco Popolare which have been suspended pending a release. Today the board of directors of the Verona institute and the supervisory board of piazza Meda meet, which will be followed by another meeting of the management board. Traders expect the merger between the two institutions to be announced today. Paris loses 0,18% while London rises by 0,10% and Frankfurt by 0,33%.

In the European banking sector, Credit Suisse stands out, announcing a further cost cut of 800 million Swiss francs and plans to slim down the investment bank. Sales are back on Petroleum after inventories in the USA recorded a strong increase, well above expectations (+9,357 barrels against estimates of 2,9 million): WTI dropped 3,23% to 40,11 dollars a barrel and Brent on 2,54, 40,73% at $0,43 a barrel. The euro-dollar exchange rate drops 1,1169% to 2: the bankers of the Fed seem inclined to proceed with the rate increase as early as April. On the macroeconomic front, new home sales increased by 0,12% in February, slightly above expectations. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones slipped by 500% and the S&P0,29 by XNUMX%.

In Piazza Affari at the bottom of the Ftse Eb there are Telecom Italia -3,73 and Mediaset -3,33% after the denial of the financial director Giordani of the forthcoming sale of Premium to Vivendi. Unicredit -3,09%, Anima -2,66% and Intesa Sanpaolo -2,62%. Going against the trend, luxury regains its share at the top of the basket of blue chips with Yoox +3,45%, Luxottica +1,19% and Moncler +0,9%.

The company closed 2015 with a net result of 2,196 billion, up 324,8% compared to 2014, last year, which had been penalized by 6,5 billion euro of write-downs. The targets for 2016 and the industrial plan have been confirmed.

fca (-1,05%) placed 8-year debt bonds on the market for 1,25 billion euro against orders that largely exceeded the 4,5 billion mark. The yield was set at 3,75%, down from the initial guidance in the 4,125% area.
