Marina di Pietrasanta: authenticity takes center stage with Maestrod'olio

Forty top artisan extra virgin olive oil companies (included in the guide Terred'Olio 2021) and some of the best expressions of the country's food and wine, from the Garfagnana butcher to the goat cheeses of Emilia, from EVO oil ice creams to Caserta buffalo mozzarella, from Friuli trout to caviar farmed in Italy, passing through pecorino of the Maremma, up to panettone and chocolates with EVO oil: it is the Italian authenticity that is staged from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 June in Pietrasanta with Maestrod'olio, the great event of quality extra virgin olive oil organized by the master Fausto Borella.

It will be three days (with free admission) dedicated to yellow gold and good food, including tastings, show cooking, talks, master classes and workshops for adults and children.

“After last year's success, which represented a sort of 'point zero' of the event – explains Fausto Borella – we are reproducing a large market-exhibition which will proclaim the city of marble for three days as the capital of quality extra virgin olive oil and will offer everyone the free opportunity to taste, get to know and buy excellent local products, even niche products whose existence is often not known. Our intention is clearly to give new impetus to the Italy of oil and to tourism and, at the same time, rekindle the spotlight on the culture of good food, the art of conviviality and the restaurant industry of Versilia and Tuscany”.

Award-winning and starred chefs like Mark Stable (Ora d'Aria restaurant, Florence), Andrea Mattei (Bistrot restaurant, Forte dei Marmi) e Christopher Trapanii (La Magnolia restaurant of the Byron Hotel, Forte dei Marmi), next to the family Stefanini, fresh from the first Michelin star with the Franco Mare restaurant in Marina di Pietrasanta, the Romano restaurant in Viareggio and other large restaurants in the area, will make their extra virgin olive oil-based creations known during interesting show cooking.

But the historic center of the "little Athens" of Versilia will also be a large open-air 'classroom' for three days, where teachers and nutritionists - including Sara Farnetti, great personalities in the world of medicine and health – they will lead informative moments and seminars on the importance of a healthy diet and the use of quality extra virgin olive oil in the Mediterranean diet.

Finally, for enthusiasts and beginners, there will be room for technical tastings of EVO oil, starting with those dedicated to the best labels that have won the Maestrod'Oil Crowns and Gems of the Terred'Olio 2021 guide. And then again verticals and tastings of champagne and of great Italian wines. All against the backdrop of Pietrasanta, one of the most evocative and magical places in the Tyrrhenian Sea, which has always been one of the most popular summer tourist destinations, thanks to its ten kilometers of coastline with over 450 bathing establishments, restaurants and accommodation facilities, which welcome hundreds of thousands of holidaymakers from Forte dei Marmi to Viareggio.
