Bad weather, isolated Genoa: two other bridges closed

THEHighway A26 – which connects Genoa to Alexandria – it is closed in the stretch of access to the Ligurian capital. This was established on Monday evening by the management of the Autostrade section after the Genoa Public Prosecutor's Office had essentially notified the concessionaire of the measure. The reason would be the poor conditions of two viaducts to be checked: the Pecetti and the Fado.

These are two of the finished infrastructures in the investigation into the so-called false reports, a trend born from the investigations into the collapse of the Morandi Bridge, which highlighted how several bridges were in much worse conditions than those indicated in the assessments then sent to the Ministry of Transport.

"We are at war, we are in an emergency, we are in Stalingrad – said the governor of the Liguria Region, John Toti, at the end of the meeting in the Prefecture after the closure of the section of the a26 - The government must take charge, starting today and until the conditions of normal livability are restored, of everything that happens: transport, as happened with Morandi, of port terminals if we have to keep them open at night, the intervention of the military engineers, everything because we are in a real emergency situation. Local institutions can patch us up but we can't handle this situation beyond a week. And the country cannot handle it”.

Meanwhile, the full of the Po also raises the alarm in Emilia Romagna. "We are monitoring the passage of the flood, following the bulletins - the regional councilor for civil protection Paola Gazzolo told Ansa - We expect a very important flood, it is estimated with an altitude of eight meters".

Gazzolo said she was "confident" that the flood will be contained in the embankments. "Monitoring is activated in all sections, between Piacenza and Parma", added the commissioner, underlining that at the moment there are "widespread critical issues”, like some landslides in the Apennines caused by bad weather. The regional civil protection is intervening.
