Made in Italy, the export of kitchen furniture is growing

The great acceleration that the export of Italian products had experienced in the last three years up to the beginning of 2018 has faded away. However, the stop does not concern – as the blog reports Paula's house – food and furniture. On the contrary, in the first six months of the year there was a real sales boom on all world markets of kitchen furniture manufactured in Italy. The FederlegnoArredo Study Center communicated this to FIRSTonline, underlining that the latest Monitor LA survey, carried out among FLA Associates, shows particularly high growth, equal to 12,8%. And this thanks also and above all to the trade fairs organized by FederlegnoArredo in China and Russia.

It was precisely these two countries that showed the most conspicuous increases. In particular, in China, sales of Made in Italy kitchens rose by 89% in the first quarter. However, the large increase in demand for kitchen furniture with its strong dynamics amply compensated for the stagnation of sales on the domestic market (-0,4 percent). In total, the Centro Studi survey highlighted how the kitchen furniture sector had a general increase of almost +5%, undoubtedly supported by exports, which follow an ever wider range, a sign of vitality but also of a ability to offer highly varied and flexible eco-sustainable solutions, styles, "atmospheres" and technologies.

Since 2012, kitchen exports have been steadily increasing. According to Istat, the first seven months of the year saw a +9,3% increase in exports, stronger than the increase in the entire furniture sector. This growth of kitchen furniture, which are complete environments with high complexity, has been taking place for 6 years and for this reason it has made it possible to constantly expand the range of buyer countries and to raise the level towards the medium-high and high range while maintaining competitive prices . A trend that already recorded +2017% in 3,2, the highest since 2012. Exports are now worth more than 35% of the total turnover of 2.22 billion (in 2017), but it was just 22% in 2019.

It should be emphasized that the percentage of furniture exports is certainly higher, but it should be borne in mind that exporting a sofa or wardrobe is much less difficult and complicated than the design, export and installation of a kitchen environment with technological components which still seems to suffer - but less and less - from the penalizing image of a made in Germany which is based on a unitary and very solid country-system.
