The scandal in Rome, which has culminated for now with the arrest for corruption of the right-hand man of the grillino mayor Virginia Raggi, is unleashing the 5 Star Movement, at the top as well as at the base. Beppe Grillo, the big boss of M5S, is furious with Raggi: "It's all your fault, I told you it would end like this", he thundered. Raggi's apology is too tepid, on which there are rumors, uncontrolled, according to which a warranty notice could arrive at any moment which would spell its end.
The Network is in revolt, the hard wing of the pentastellati is on a war footing and the majority of the Roman councilors of the Movement have already turned their backs on the mayor. Grillo ponders what to do and does not rule out removing the symbol or suspending Raggi. But the aspiring premier, Luigi Di Maio, the vice president of the Chamber who has always covered up the adventurous choices of Raggi, is also accused.
There are those who think of going immediately to the Capitoline elections but it would be the definitive admission of a sensational political failure that concerns not only Rome but the national future of the 5 Star Movement which had never experienced such terrible days and which fears that the pains of hell of politics are not over yet.
