Lusi, the prosecutor's office is asking for the senator to be arrested

The Rome prosecutor's office wants to arrest Luigi Lusi, former treasurer of the Margherita. The charge is of criminal association for the purpose of embezzlement. The investigating judge Simonetta D'Alessandro has sent the request for authorization to proceed to the Chamber. He also issued three other precautionary custody orders against Giovanna Petricone, wife of Senator Lusi, and the two accountants who looked after the interests of the real estate companies always attributable to the parliamentarian.

The investigation refers to the subtraction of more than 20 million euros from Margherita coffers and is coordinated by the assistant prosecutor Alberto Caperna and the prosecutor Stefano Pesci. The deed by the investigating judge D'Alessandro was carried out this morning by the investigators of the Tax Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza.

"We are baffled – commented the lawyer Luca Petrucci, defender of Lusi – This provision of the judge comes after a broad confession, after having asked for a probative hearing which was rejected. After having asked for the seizure of Margherita's accounting computer system, on which there is still no answer. After placing all the immovable assets under dispute at the disposal of Margherita, a custodial measure was ordered for which it is currently not clear what new elements the ordinance is based on".

The parliamentarian's wife was granted house arrest. The criminal lawyer then underlined that he had not yet read the order issued by the judge.

"Right now I'm going to Genzano to see my client," he explained.
