At least 26 people received medical treatment at the scene due to the "chemical alarm" which resulted in the evacuation of the terminal small London City Airport. This was announced by the London fire service, quoted by the BBC, which specifies that around 500 people were evicted from the terminal, including staff and passengers, welcomed on the runway.
"When I entered the airport we could hear fire alarm sirens and an announcement in three languages explaining that staff would gather us to help us clear" the terminal, a 35-year-old British passenger told the BBC. "Now we are all standing on the runway, under the wing of an airplane because in the meantime it has started to rain," continued the witness. “I can see planes – added the witness – circling above us but no planes landed” in the small airport of the City, in the London Docks area. The nature of the alarm has not yet been specified.
