On 7 March 2014, Sotheby's Contemporary Art Department will present the second triannual Contemporary Curated auction, the editorialized version of the mid-season sales of Contemporary Art. Four tastemakers from the world of business, fashion, and curating have selected the works that inspire them most , and shared why.

Their selections cut across range of contemporary genres and price points, from Abstract Expressionism and Pop to minimalism and cutting-edge Contemporary Art. The sale will also highlight works by Glenn Brown, Joan Mitchell, Sigmar Polke, Salvatore Scarpitta, Anselm Kiefer, Andy Warhol, and Mark Grotjahn. The exhibition opens Saturday, 1st March and continues through Thursday 6th.

THE CURATORS

Anna SuiAnna
Sui's first fashion show in 1991 earned her international acclaim. She won the CFDA Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent in 1993, and in 2009 she received their prestigious Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. Anna Sui has 50 boutiques in eight countries and her collection is sold in over 300 stores in over 30 countries. The Anna Sui line also includes her very popular fragrance and cosmetic collections as well as successful shoe and accessory licenses. AnnaSui designs and manufactures from her New York City headquarters. Her runway shows her continue to inspire and set trends with her signature rock-n-roll romance.

Maria Baibakova
In 2008, Maria Baibakova founded Baibakov Art Projects in Moscow, a nonprofit institution committed to building a platform for global contemporary art in Moscow. Under Baibakova's leadership as director and chief curator, they have organized nine critically acclaimed exhibitions featuring over seventy artists. Since January 2013, Baibakova is also Strategic Director and serves on the Board of Directors of Artspace.com, the leading online marketplace for contemporary art. Baibakova serves as a Trustee of Barnard College as well as on committees at Lincoln Center for the Performing Art (New York), Tate Modern (London), and Art Dubai. Trevor TrainaTrevor
Traina is the Founder and CEO of Traina Interactive, a venturefunded startup which operates IfOnly.com. He has founded or cofounded five successful technology companies. Four of them were in the online ecommerce space and one in enterprise software. GoldmanSachs (NYSE:GS) recognized Trevor as one of the “100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2013”. Trevor is a collector of photography and contemporary art. He is also a winemaker and owns a vineyard in the Napa Valley.

Reem Acra
Reem Acra has been designing since 1997 when she first launched her company as a bridal line. In spring 2008, Acra brought her aesthetic into the ready-to-wear realm with distinctly modern designs that are marked by rich color, lush fabrics, flawless construction and playful patterns. Born in Lebanon, Acra studied first at the American University of Beirut, followed by the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de laMode in Paris.
