Lingotto, Renzi: "They tried to destroy us, the game starts now"

The former prime minister closed the programmatic convention of the Democratic Party in Turin with a long speech – Attacks on the secessionists (“Let your hearts be at peace”) and on the 5 Star Movement (“We guaranteed you with Virginia Raggi, but Di Maio and Di Battista come to court to answer our complaints") - Thanks to Paolo Gentiloni and the jab at De Magistris - No reference to Pisapia.

Lingotto, Renzi: "They tried to destroy us, the game starts now"

"The game starts now, the motion will be written next week, but there is a plan for the country, we don't know if the future is majority or proportional, we have our ideas, but after December 4, that institutional innovation plan is weaker, the strength of our ideas is the comparison with others and then whoever is stronger in terms of projects and proposals will win”. It is a particularly energetic Matteo Renzi who closed, with a long speech, the programmatic event of the Democratic Party at the Lingotto in Turin, which he himself had opened on Friday evening.

After the declarations on the new proposal of the Democratic Party in view of the Primaries and the next electoral match, Renzi has also gone on the attack, above all of the party's splinters and, then, of the 5 Star Movement: "In recent weeks, objectively, someone has tried to destroy the Democratic Party because there was a moment of weakness, first of all mine. But they didn't realize that there is a solidity and a strength that the community of the Democratic Party expresses, regardless of the leadership: they put their hearts at peace, it was there before and there will be after us and now it walks with us ".

Renzi then claimed the importance of confrontation and closeness with the "least", because "this is the left, not those who sing the red flag with a clenched fist. Being on the left is not chasing after totems of the past we tell those who imagine that being on the left is getting on a stage raise a clenched fist and sing the red flag. They are exponents of something that no longer exists to defend the weak. It is an image of a caricature, not of politics”. And he wished Orlando and Emiliano good work "because we don't argue with anyone and in particular with our teammates".

Then the jab at the grillini, defending Raggi but not Di Battista and Di Maio, against whom he announced lawsuits: “No to the justice of those who have confused justice with justicialism. The Constitution says that a citizen is innocent until the sentence becomes final. Always, not every other day. Trials take place in the courts, not in the newspapers. The articles are from the penal code. The sentences are issued by the judges, not the commentators. The leaders of the Movement waive their parliamentary immunity and come to court to answer our complaints. See you there, with affection and with the lawyers”.

Not even a reference was missing, in very vigorous tones, to the facts of Naples on the occasion of Salvini's visit in the city. Renzi harshly condemned the behavior of Mayor De Magistris: "We cannot form alliances with those who do not respect the law, we cannot form alliances with a mayor who takes the side of those who destroy a city like Naples so as not to let a deputy speak, even if this is Salvini”.

Finally, thanks to Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni: "Welcome back to your home Paolo Gentiloni, Prime Minister: we are happy to work together with you". And on the electoral law: “We have to ask ourselves the question of how things are going, but it is a theme that we will deal with from what will happen on the electoral law – Renzi explained again -. The first alliance that counts is with the citizens who believe in us. We cannot replicate models from the past if it is not clear what we want to do”.
