Letta: "No second Imu installment, there's no going back"

Prime Minister Enrico Letta guarantees on the municipal tax: “The first and second IMU installments will not be paid by the Italians. This is a decision that has already been taken and there is no going back” – Yesterday Economy Minister Saccomanni, from London, underlined the difficulties of finding the 2,4 billion euro coverage necessary for the abolition of the tax.

Letta: "No second Imu installment, there's no going back"

The Government keeps the bar straight on the Imu. In the press conference at the end of the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Enrico Letta wanted to clarify that “The first and second IMU installments will not be paid by the Italians. This is a decision that has already been made and there is no going back”.

The clarification also comes with regard to yesterday's statements by Economy Minister Fabrizio Saccomanni who, from London, had underlined the difficulty in obtaining resources (around 2,4 billion euros) for the coverage necessary to avoid the second installment of the 'Municipal tax.

But what about the IMU is more of a political discourse, one of the pillars that supports the government majority and ensures Alfano's support. Beyond the technical difficulties on coverage, for Letta “on the political level it is a decision made. I realize that in this phase every issue becomes an occasion for political upheavals, but I want to be dry and final on this to avoid misunderstandings".
