Leonardo: 176 million contract for 32 helicopters for US Defense

Leonardo has been awarded a 176,4 million dollar contract with the US Department of Defense. Through its subsidiary AgustaWestland Philadelphia, the group will produce and deliver 32 TH-73A helicopters, along with an initial package of spare parts, support and equipment, as well as training services for pilots and maintenance technicians.

The contract, covered with Fiscal Year 2020 funds assigned to the US Navy, was awarded in a competitive tender. Production activities will mainly be performed at the Leonardo plant in Philadelphia and will be completed in October 2021.

“With nearly 119 years of presence in Philadelphia, we are proud to have been chosen by the US Navy as its new partner in this program with our TH-XNUMX helicopter. We are proud to be able to make an important contribution to the future of US defense”, said Leonardo's CEO, Alessandro Profumo.

“We are ready to work with the US Navy to ensure future pilots are best trained to meet all future operational requirements,” added Gian Piero Cutillo, Managing Director Leonardo Helicopters.
