Work, companies under 35: +20 thousand in the second quarter of 2016, 40% in the South

Entrepreneurship becomes young and opens up to new sectors such as finance, personal services and advertising. These are the areas in which companies led by the under 35s are beginning to be a beautiful and important reality in our country.

In the second quarter of 2016, out of the total number of new businesses registered in these sectors, the activities conceived by young people under 35 in fact exceed 40%.

Based on the data emerging from Movimprese, the survey conducted by Unioncamere-Infocamere on the basis of the Business Register of the Chambers of Commerce, in the months of April, May and June of the current year, the positive balance of the companies set up by the under 35 exceeds 20 thousand units and is equal to 54,1% of the total balance of Italian companies. The more than 31 registrations of companies under 35 represent 31,6% of registrations in the period, while 10 youth companies were closed in the same period.

“Young people continue to choose the entrepreneurial path with conviction to build their own future”, comments the president of Unioncamere, Ivan Lo Bello. "More than half of the growth in the entrepreneurial fabric this quarter was due to the under 35s. We must commit ourselves to creating the conditions to allow these companies to grow and establish themselves on the market".

Going into detail, there are 581 production activities led by young people under the age of 35 (9,6% of the total companies registered at the end of June), many of which are active in more traditional sectors such as Commerce (28,7%), Construction (14,3%) and Accommodation and catering ( 10,2%).

However, according to the Unioncamere survey, in the second quarter of 2016, the under 35s also showed conspicuous interest in other sectors. An example above all are the auxiliary activities of financial services and insurance activities (to which, among others, financial promoters, agents, sub-agents and insurance brokers belong), in which the 859 young companies registered in the quarter represent 47,8, 47% of total enrollments. Over 992% of the total enrollments are also the 42 juvenile start-ups that deal with Other personal service activities, while the weight of enrollments of companies under 35 in the Advertising and market research sector reaches almost 207% (XNUMX the registrations of youth companies in the quarter).

From a geographical point of view it seems to take shape a stronger push towards the enterprise of young people from the South: 8.366 more companies which represent over 40% of the total balance of companies under 35. Followed by the North-West (with a balance equal to 4.988 companies), the Center (with 4.218 more units) and the North-East ( +3.014). From a regional point of view, the vitality of the young Piedmontese stands out (the contribution to the balance reaches 75,3% of regional entrepreneurial growth in this case), followed by Campania (68%) and Aosta Valley (66,2%). On the opposite front, Lazio (where the balance of enterprises under 35 is equal to 44,7% of the total), Lombardy (46,4%) and Abruzzo (48,1%). At the provincial level, however, the provinces with the greatest vocation for young people are Crotone (where young entrepreneurs currently account for 15,3% of the total), Vibo Valentia (15%), Palermo and Caserta (both 14,2%). At the other end of the ranking, the territories in which there are fewer businesses led by young people are Forlì-Cesena (last with 6,5%), preceded by Pordenone (6,8%) and Treviso (6,9%).
