Digital work: 10 professions (in demand) that Italy does not produce

There are 10 digital-related professionals who are in great demand on the labor market, but which Italy does not produce. Here they are:

1. User experience director, the one who manages the user-experience within complex spaces (virtual and physical).
2. Data analysts, the experts in reading and analyzing data.
3.Chief technology officer, which selects the technologies to be applied to the products and services offered by the company.
4. Mobile developer, which deals with applications for smartphones and tablets.
5. Big data architects, which handles the analysis of the data system architecture. 6. Web analyst, who interprets data and provides detailed analysis of web activity.
7. Digital copywriters, which manages advertising content on digital platforms 8. Community manager, in charge of managing a virtual community with the task of designing its structure and coordinating its activities.
9.Digital PR, which deals with public relations through online channels.
10. Digital Advertisers, for the management of advertising campaigns on the web.

The list is the work of Talent Garden, a European co-working network, which on the occasion of the Supernova Festival highlighted how Italy is still behind the EU for young people employed in the digital sector (12% against 16% of the community average).

According to Lorenzo Maternini, vice president of Talent Garden and creator of the Supernova Festival, this “originates in the Italian university world, but in reality professions are born and die much faster and in other countries they have understood this for some time. For traditional companies it is necessary to start from a culture of innovation to expand their business and avoid repeating the cases of many leading global companies that have disappeared from the market within five or ten years”.

The European Commission calculates that by 2020 there will be 900.000 unfilled jobs due to lack of digital skills, more than triple the 275 in 2012. And in Italy, according to a recent study by Modis, 22% of open positions in this area do not find suitable candidates.

“Companies – explains Maternini – are looking for people who are experts in data analysis, software development and digital marketing. According to the EU Commission, Italy has the lowest percentage of ICT workers in the world who have at least a three-year degree: 32% against the best performances of Spain (77%) and Belgium (73%), as well as those employed in the sector they are on average older than almost all other EU countries”.

And what are the most coveted and best paid new digital professions? According to PayScale, a body that deals with salary analysis worldwide, the highest average salaries are those of the director of analytics, user experience director, sustainability expert, mobile applications developer and web analyst, who earn between 67.500 and $124 a year.
