The progress made by Finmeccanica in 2013, which brought the group back to profit after two years, gave "extremely transitory results, because one cannot think that a group like this can be put back on track within a few months or one year". This was stated by the outgoing managing director, Alessandro Pansa, in the speech with which he illustrated the 2013 financial statements to the shareholders' meeting.
In his parting words, Pansa invited Finmeccanica to continue along the path of business restructuring and governance: the outgoing board of directors "leaves to the new board a group that has faced very significant problems - he said -, but which has launched strategies which, in conditions of continuity, will give important benefits over 18-24 months. Finmeccanica was a ship stranded on the shoals, today it is a ship that has been made able to navigate in the open sea. I'm not saying he's able to race, but he's able to face a competition that is becoming more and more fierce and sustained around the world".
Moretti's era at the helm of Finmeccanica begins today with De Gennaro as president.
At the beginning of the afternoon, the Finmeccanica stock dropped 1,17% to 5,9 euros.
