The Rome Quadriennale sheds its skin: it is no longer just an exhibition that takes place every four years but a constantly active institution in Rome and in the country that aims to support contemporary Italian art and give visibility to young artists. The Q2020 exhibition, which will open in October next year at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, will be the culmination of the revolution that the Quadriennale is already experiencing at the instigation of the president Franco Bernabè and of the Board of Directors and of which the artistic director is the soul Sarah Cosulich, former director of Artissima in Turin, who talks about it in a broad interview on FIRST Arte.

“The Quadrennial Art Exhibition 2020 it will be different from previous editions because the institution is also different” who promotes and organizes it explains Cosulich, who adds: “The project that I presented for the three-year period 2018-2020 has the aim of giving visibility and support to contemporary Italian art through independent but communicating projects that involve training in Italy, the mapping of the territory, support abroad, international exchange, research" in the artistic field and of which next year's great exhibition will be the final act of an innovative path for Italian art and for Rome.

Q2020 will involve all the visual arts, from painting to sculpture, from photography to installation, video and performance without excluding contaminations. Its exact size will depend on your resources that the institution will be able to collect thanks to relationships with important sponsors and supporters and with the search for new partners.

The selection of artists has already begun and "is currently continuing through in-depth research and artist visits, discussion and constant information". Compared to previous editions, the artists present at Q2020 will be fewer but will have more space available. The objective of the Quadriennale, which clearly aims to leave an innovative mark on Italian contemporary art, is to involve other artistic institutions of the capital to thus present "a united and connected city" and in step with the changes in the country.
