The Hong Kong protest hits Wall Street which infects the European stock exchanges: Milan is the worst

The chaos in Hong Kong disturbs the markets: Wall Street opens downwards and infects the stock markets of the Old Continent but the worst is Milan (-1,2%) – In Piazza Affari, the banks suffer above all, also in view of the stress tests, and luxury: Ferragamo and Bpm lose more than 3% – At the Treasury auction, the ten-year BTP rates are rising again.

BAGS IN RED, THE SPREAD RISES. BANKS UNDER FIRE

European stock markets significantly down on a day marked by tensions on the geopolitical front. Piazza Affari leaves 1,30% on the ground: the Ftse Mib index closes at 20.526. The other square on the periphery of the eurozone, Madrid -1,52%, is worse. Better Paris -0,80% and Frankfurt -0,65%. London -0,06% closed almost unchanged.

Pressure on the spread, up 145 points. Sales of Greek bonds weigh on the Eurozone. Wall Street continues to decline with the S&P500 falling 0,9% along with the Nasdaq. Sales also on the Dow Jones -0,7%. Various old and new mergers weigh on the world markets. The Hong Kong student revolt weighs -1,9% under popular pressure. The Brazilian Stock Exchange falls -4% in the wake of the polls that attest to the recovery of the outgoing president Dilma Roussef on the challenger Marina Silva, more appreciated by the Stock Exchange. 

No less important, the sanctions that the European Union should inflict today on Apple -1,7% for the favorable treatment by the Irish taxman. It shouldn't go any better for Fiat -1,9%, which is contesting a privileged agreement with the Luxembourg tax authority. The leap of DreamWorks Animation, the production house of animated films up by +17%, was significant on Wall Street. The Hollywood Reporter, a newspaper specializing in the film industry, wrote on Saturday that Japan's SoftBank is preparing to present a $3,4 billion offer at a premium of 43% on Friday night's closing price. 

In Piazza Affari, sales hit the banking sector in particular: Intesa marks a drop of 1,98%, Unicredit -1,93%, MontePaschi -2,5%. Banco Popolare -2,7%. Mediobanca loses 2,1%. The syndicate pact of Piazzetta Cuccia unanimously approved the candidacies for the board that will have to be submitted to the vote of the assembly on the 28th. Among others, Carlo Pesenti leaves, Maurizio Costa and Marie Bolloré enter. Insurance companies are also bad: Generali -2,1%, UnipolSai -2,7%. Heavy reduction of Telecom Italia -2,5%. Heavy losses also for Enel -2,3% and A2A -2,4%. The worst blue chip is Ferragamo -3,43%, the worst performance of the main basket, Tod's -2,8%.
