The ECB accuses: too many insiders on the markets

The European Central Bank shines a light on cases of suspected insider trading among some traders. According to a Eurotower working paper, by analyzing 21 market mover indicators, in no less than seven cases US and Treasury stock futures began to move in the direction suggested by the indicators about half an hour before the data was released. This means that several operators have moved on the basis of confidential information, thus violating the rules of the market.

Data analyzed by the ECB include existing home sales, preliminary numbers on GDP and industrial production. Experts have called on relevant authorities to investigate "to conclusively determine the source of such informed trading".
