Red kiwi, Italy wins gold for innovation at the FLIA in Berlin

For the first time an Italian company has won the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award (FLIA), the most important international competition dedicated to the global fruit and vegetable supply chain. The judges of the event, which was held in Berlin, after selecting over 70 products candidates for the prestigious award, awarded the red kiwifruit, Oriental Red produced by Jingold, the company from Cesena that brings together a consortium of companies from Emilia-Romagna in the fruit and vegetable sector and which was awarded the exclusive worldwide right for the production and marketing of the Jingold kiwifruit with yellow and red flesh.

The red kiwi characterized by great sweetness, tropical exotic aftertaste is destined to change the kiwi scene. A completely natural product, originally from China, it has unique organoleptic properties, an excellent shelf life and a sweetness with 20 to 21 degrees Brix, which make it particularly appreciated, especially among young consumers.

“We are very happy to have won an important competition - commented Federico Milanese, international development manager of Jingold, who collected the award - It has been a year of hard work for our team. We have invested a lot of energy to develop and improve our product, which is gaining great acceptance internationally".

The president of Confagricoltura Massimiliano Giansanti sent a congratulatory message to Jingold, a member of Confagricoltura Forlì-Cesena: “The fact that one of our companies has won this important international recognition fills us with pride. Developing innovation in agriculture, in all its forms, is the 'mission' of Confagricoltura, which promotes the exchange of knowledge and experience among its members, necessary for the growth and competitiveness of businesses and the entire sector”.

Compliments to the Jingold company also came from the Italian ambassador in Germany Luigi Mattiolo: "I would like to congratulate the Italian company Jingold for having achieved this important international recognition, which confirms how innovation, quality and sustainability can go hand in hand step. Every tradition – and Italy as the first country in the world for agri-food biodiversity has several – is an innovation that has managed to establish itself. Jingold's "Oriental Red" Kiwi therefore represents this virtuous balance between innovation and innovation."
