Italcementi, 150 million to renovate Rezzato

Italcementi invests 150 million euro for the renewal of the Rezzato plant, in the province of Brescia, with the aim of making it the most modern and ecological cement plant in Europe. Work will begin in November and the new facility is expected to start up by the end of 2014.

“I like it when entrepreneurs respond to the crisis by investing and keep their head, heart and base in Italy – commented the Minister of Economic Development, Corrado Passera -. Today there are leading Italian companies which, despite the crisis, are investing” and this is “very appreciable”.

Illustrating the investment, Italcementi's managing director, Carlo Pesenti, underlined how the company, despite having "many investment opportunities, has chosen to maintain its investment in Italy". The Rezzano cement plant "will be one of the spearheads of Italcementi's industrial structure in Italy, together with the Calusco D'Adda and Matera plants, which were renovated in recent years".

In mid-afternoon, Italcementi shares lost 1,4%.
