Ita Airways: the board of directors removes the powers from president Altavilla, the causes of the clash

Increasingly high tension at the top of Italy Airways. The board of directors of the airline this morning took off all powers to its president executive, Alfredo Altavilla, placing them in the hands of the CEO Fabio Lazzerini.

The causes of the clash

Six outgoing directors of the company's board of directors voted for the motion, out of nine, with the support of theTo Lazzerini. The resolution of revokes of the proxies to Altavilla would have already been sent to Ministry of Economy and Finance, sole shareholder of the newco.

In the crosshairs of the board members, expression of the mef, there was above all the delegation of strategic operations, thanks to which Altavilla was called to manage the sale of Ita Airways to the consortium formed by Centares, Air France and Delta.

According to the advisers, the chairman was carrying out the operation without involving the corporate bodies. But the real crux of the dispute concerned the concession of data to the consortium led by Centares.

Last September 29, the Ministry of the Economy had sent a letter to Altavilla, asking him to allow all three companies belonging to the consortium to access information on the profitability of the routes. In his response, the president said he wanted to grant direct access to that information only in Centres, as it is not a direct competitor of Ita, while Air France and Delta could have accessed through the mediation of an advisor. A choice motivated by the need not to provide sensitive data to direct competitors of the company which, however, according to the MEF, would represent an obstacle to the privatization of Ita.
