In June, Italian industrial production grew by 0,9% on a monthly basis. This was announced this morning by Istat, specifying that it is the best result since last January (+1,1%).
However, the second quarter closed with a contraction of -0,4% compared to the first (+0,1%). On an annual basis, according to the valuation corrected for calendar effects, there is an increase of 0,4%. In the first six months the increase was 0,2% compared to the corresponding period last year.
In this context, it should be noted that the production of consumer goods increased by 2,5%, the best result since May 2013 (+2,6%). The figure relating to capital goods, linked to investment spending, increased by 2,6%, while that of intermediate goods decreased by 0,2% and energy rose by 0,3%.
Lastly, in the motor vehicle sector, production in the first half-year rose by 4,3% compared to the corresponding half-year of the previous year.
