Italian industrial production drops in March. The relative index, surveyed by Istat, showed, in fact, a contraction of 0,8% compared to February and by 5,2% on an annual basis. This is the nineteenth consecutive decline. On average for the quarter, the cyclical variation was negative by 0,4%, while the tendential variation recorded a decrease of 4,2%.
Among the sectors, the only one showing an increase compared to the same period of the previous year is that of energy, +2,2%. Sharp decline for capital goods, down by 8%. Among the sectors, the most significant increase in production is that of the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air (+6,3%). Mining activity collapses, -16%.
