Istat: GDP -0,2% in the second quarter, -2% year on year

The cyclical decline is the synthesis of decreases in added value in all three major sectors of economic activity: agriculture, industry and services – The acquired change in GDP for 2013 is equal to -1,7%.

Istat: GDP -0,2% in the second quarter, -2% year on year

In the second quarter the Italian GDP fell by 0,2% compared to the January-March period and by 2% on an annual basis. This was communicated by Istat, specifying that the economic downturn is the synthesis of decreases in added value in all three major sectors of economic activity: agriculture, industry and services. 

The acquired change in GDP for 2013 is equal to -1,7%. The second quarter of 2013 had one less working day than the previous quarter and the same number of working days as the second quarter of 2012.

The second quarter of 2013 is the eighth in a row in which a decline in GDP has been recorded: a sequence never recorded since the beginning of comparable historical series, in the first quarter of 1990.

In the same period, GDP increased in cyclical terms by 0,4% in the United States and by 0,6% in the United Kingdom. In trend terms, there was an increase of 1,4% in both the USA and Great Britain.
