Good news on the front consumer prices with Istat confirming to “sharp deceleration” of inflation in June. According to what was communicated today, Monday 17 July, by the National Institute of Statistics, on an annual basis the figure dropped to 6,4% from 7,6% in May, in line with the preliminary estimates.
To determine the decline is above all the drop in energy prices, in particular of the unregulated component (from +20,3% to +8,4%) and, to a lesser extent, of processed food (from +13,2% to +11,5%), of services relating to transport (from +5,6% to +4,7%) and by the more marked decline in regulated Energy (from -28,5% to -29,0%). “On the other hand, the dynamics of the general index are supported by the increases in the prices of unprocessed food (from +8,8% to +9,4%)”, writes the Institute.
underlying inflation, net of energy and fresh food, slowed further (from +6,0% to +5,6%).
Istat: "Inflation in sharp deceleration"
“In June, inflation shows a sharp deceleration, in a price stability framework at the economic level (the last zero change on a monthly basis was recorded in May 2021)”, explains Istat, according to which the growth on an annual basis in the prices of goods is attenuated (from +9,3% to +7,5, 4,6%) and, to a lesser extent, that of services (from +4,5% to +3,0%), bringing the inflationary differential between the services and goods sectors to -4,7 percentage points, from - XNUMX in May.
In trend terms, the prices of food goods, for home and personal care, as well as those of frequently purchased products (from +7,1% to +5,7%).
"The cyclical stability of the general index is affected by the opposite dynamics of various components", observes the institute which highlights how on the one hand, we are witnessing the growth in the prices of transport services (+1,2%) and of recreational, cultural and personal care services (+1,1%), also due to factors linked to seasonality, and unprocessed food (+0,8%), on the other hand, to the decrease in the prices of Energy both unregulated (-4,5%) and regulated (-0,6%).
Acquired inflation for 2023 it is equal to +5,6% for the general index and +4,9% for the fund component.
