The seasonally adjusted index of retail sales posted a 0,1% cyclical increase in October, after five months of negative changes. According to data provided by Istat, compared to October 2010, the raw index of total sales marks a drop of 1,5%, with opposing dynamics between sales of food products, which increased by 0,9%, and those of non-food products, which fell by 2,5%.
Average of quarter August-October 2011 the index decreased by 0,5% compared to the previous three months. In comparison with September 2011, sales of food products increased by 0,7%, those of non-food products decreased by 0,1%.
Sales by distribution form compared with the month of October 2010, they mark a more marked decline for companies operating on small surfaces (-2,2%) than for large-scale distribution (0,5%).
In the first ten months of 2011, compared to the same period in 2010, raw index decreases by 0,8%. Sales of food products show an increase of 0,2%, those of non-food products a decrease of 1,4%.
