Istat: industry turnover in September -5,4% year on year, orders collapse (-12,8%)

On a monthly basis, industry turnover in September fell by 4,2% – The raw index fell by 11% on an annual basis, due to the decline in the domestic component of intermediate goods – Bad orders: -4% compared to August, -12,8% on September 2011.

The turnover of Italian industry falls, which it recorded in September a contraction of 4,2% compared to August (-3,7% on the domestic market and -5,3% on the foreign market). Istat communicates it, explaining that the total turnover, corrected for the effects of the calendar, decreased by 5,4% year over year (-7,7% on the domestic market and -0,1% on the foreign market).

On average for the last quarter, the overall index showed a drop of 0,4% compared to the previous three months. The seasonally adjusted turnover indexes for energy (-9,6%), capital goods (-4,7%) and intermediate goods (-4,5%) fell sharply. 

On an annual basis thecrude turnover index fell by 11%. What weighs the most is the decline in the domestic component of intermediate goods. The greatest increase in turnover compared to September 2011 was that of the food, beverage and tobacco industries (+1,9%).

Sharp slowdown also with regard to orders, which fell by 4% compared to August (-1,4% domestic orders, -7,4% foreign), while on an annual basis the raw index of orders recorded a fall of 12,8%. On average for the quarter, total orders increased by 0,7% over the previous quarter.
