In the month of September the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production fell by 1,5% on the previous month. In August, the index had risen by 1,7%. According to data released today by Istat, the index adjusted for working days recorded a drop of 4,8% on an annual basis from -5,2% in August.
Economists' forecasts indicated a drop of 1,4% on the month and 4,6% on the year. In the third quarter, production fell in seasonally adjusted terms by 0,1% on the second quarter, when it had shown a decrease of 1,6%.
