The whole of Sicily is on fire. After the fires that broke out in Messina and on Vesuvius now it is an emergency in San Vito Lo Capo and Catania. According to data from the Civil Protection, there would be a total of 125 active fires at the moment in Trinacria. What is most worrying are those that afflict the areas of Priolo, Catania, San Mauro Castelverde (Palermo) and San Vito Lo Capo (Trapani).

To make matters worse, the incandescent temperatures of the last eyes, with peaks above 40 degrees. 

In the Trapani area, the village of Calampiso, a San Vito Lo Capo. 900 people were taken safely by sea and transported to the center of the country. “We are doing everything possible, anyone who has a boat can help us,” says Mayor Matteo Rizzo. A Canadair and an "AB 212" helicopter of the Navy are engaged in Castellammare del Golfo, in the province of Trapani.

Getting married across the island numerous fires also in Catania and its province. Due to a fire, the Catania West Ring Road was closed between the junction with the Catania-Syracuse motorway and the junction with state road 114 "Orientale Sicula". The same state road 114, previously closed between Villasmundo and Brucoli, has been reopened to traffic, even if slowdowns remain.

Fires also in the Cibali district, between via Sabato Martelli Castaldi and via Nazario Sauro, and in Canalicchio. Flames also in Misterbianco, in the Sieli area and on the Catania-Syracuse motorway near Priolo and Sortino.

A Messina instead the worst seems to be over, but the damages amount to hundreds of thousands of euros.

In the meantime, the prosecutors of Palermo and Enna have opened investigations to understand the causes of the fires and ascertain the existence of "possible failures of the Sicilian Region in the prevention system". Investigation also in Enna.

In Catania, the prefect brings together the rescue coordination. The heads of the police forces, the commander of the fire brigade, the representatives of the Metropolitan City of Catania, of the traffic police, of Anas, of the Regional Department of Civil Protection and of the Departmental Inspectorate of Forests were present in order to coordinate the interventions.
