On stage the auction of Murano glass from the 900s

The Cambi auction in Milan has successfully concluded, an event entirely dedicated to 900th century Murano glass.

The two rich catalogues, brought together in an exclusive box set, have attracted the attention of experts and enthusiasts in the sector and the results have been more than positive.

This specific sector has proved to be in an excellent moment, with various admirers and major international dealers of 900th century Italian collecting battling with each other to win unique and wonderful pieces.

Important satisfaction for Simona Cocchi Scarchilli, curator of the first catalog (dedicated to her husband Maurizio Cocchi, Milanese collector and dealer), and yet another success for Marco Arosio, expert in the XNUMXth Century Decorative Arts department of Cambi Casa d'Aste, who curates every his auction with dedication and professionalism.

The absolute top lot of the Murano, 1954th Century auction was a splendid Scozzesi series vase by Fulvio Bianconi (Venini, ca. 100.000), an extremely rare rectangular vase with an asymmetrical hourglass section decorated with polychrome diagonal bands, from the Pistilli collection in Naples. which started from an initial estimate of €120.000-275.000 and reached the surprising figure of €XNUMX.

Excellent hammer price for a large vase from the Mosaico series by the Barovier artists (c. 1924) decorated with a murrine mosaic fabric, which was sold for €200.000, and for an amphora with decoration of seagulls in relief, a unique piece by Venini on drawing by Tomaso Buzzi, already exhibited in the exhibition dedicated to him at the Cini Foundation in 2014, sold for €125.000.

The works of Carlo Scarpa are also always very popular, obtaining the best result with a cylindrical cup with flared neck and truncated cone foot in thin cased glass with wave and filament applications on the milky glass base, sold for €60.000.

Among the top lots we also point out a Cappello del Doge vase by Thomas Stearns (Venini, c. 1962), sold for €60.000, and a mosaic-fabric vase by Paolo Venini, c. 1954, which was purchased for €52.500.
