Impeachment, Trump acquitted by the US Senate

Both the accusations of abuse of power and that of obstruction of Congress rejected - Sensational gesture by the speaker Pelosi during the speech on the state of the Union given by the President

The case is solved. The impeachment against the president of the United States, Donald Trump, is officially filed with a full acquittal. As expected, the US Senate – with a Republican majority – he denied both charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, thus putting an end (in the most predictable way) to a months-long battle.

Overall, therefore, the conservative dam has read, albeit with an excellent defection, that of the former candidate for the White House, My Romney, who voted to convict Trump on charges of abuse of power.

At this point, however, Trump can really breathe a sigh of relief and concentrate on the electoral campaign in view of the presidential elections next November. The feeling is that the story of the failed impeachment has strengthened his chances of victory, already very high given the confusion that reigns in the democratic field (accentuated by the mess of the vote in Iowa).

But the news didn't end there. On occasion of the State of the Union address held by Trump in front of Congress - and transformed into a re-election rally - the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, the third office in the state, has made an unprecedented gesture. As the president finished speaking to the chamber, she, behind her, tore up the copy of the speech.

It may be that Pelosi did not like the fact that Trump, entering the courtroom, refused to shake her hand, ignoring the outstretched arm of the speaker.

"Pelosi didn't tear up the speech on the state of the Union, he tore up the constitution," said US vice president Mike Pence, who as president of the Senate was as always at the speaker's side.

“Trump tore the truth to pieces, I tore his speech to pieces, which is a manifesto of lies – commented Pelosi – After all, it was the most courteous thing to do considering what the alternatives could be …”.
