Ilva, Bentivogli attacks Di Maio: "Extension of the commissioner is a shame"

"If the government of change is to prorogue the state commissioners, we will not stand by and watch". She said it Marco Bentivogli, secretary of the metalworkers' union Fim Cisl, after the Minister of Economic Development, Luigi Di Maio, announced the extension of the Ilva receivership until 15 September. Initially, the deadline was set at 30 June.

According to the trade unionist, the new deadline for commissioner management "established without motivation and without assigned tasks is a shame" because "the facility is not safe: wounded and dead have marked this commissioner management which has saved in national security by not skimping on anti-meritocratic policies, while the workers risk every minute".

Bentivogli then sends a message to Di Maio: "At the first accident, his ministry will be occupied by workers, the real ones. If you continue to speak to follower sounds, you must know that there are flesh-and-blood people who want an environmentally friendly and safe system. There are workers who repaired their safety harnesses at their own expense, shame on you”.

Tuesday Di Maio he had made it known that he welcomed "the responsibility shown by the Ilva commissioners", who expressed their "willingness to make use of the extension signed in the contract", bringing each deadline "to 15 September 2018 without further economic costs for the State".

As minister “I am evaluating every possible impact linked to the decisions I will have to make – continues the note released by Di Maio – Impact in environmental, social, economic and employment terms. This is why we are examining the over 23 pages that have been delivered to us", he adds, reiterating how "every decision will be taken responsibly, not forgetting that the 5 Star Movement has achieved extraordinary results in Taranto with around 50% of the preferences, results which intends to honor. The people of Taranto have the right to breathe again, we have the duty to examine each page with the utmost attention".

I commissioners motivate the choice with "the opportunity to further make available a space for discussion at the service of reaching the union agreement", but in practice the postponement as well as allowing, in fact, the eventual achievement of theunderstanding between the buyer ArcelorMittal and the unions Fiom-Fim-Uilm, he will give more time in the new government to learn more about the Ilva dossier.

A few days ago, after the last meeting at the ministry, ArcelorMittal she told herself ready to be operational at Ilva from July XNUMXst. But the agreement with the workers' representatives has not yet been reached.
