The festival of the most loved dessert has begun. From the 5 15 to May, the Pincio terrace in Rome hosts the Gelato Festival, a challenge between master gelato makers to decree the best. The event was inaugurated yesterday in the presence, among others, of the President of the Agriculture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies Luca Sani, and will move to the rest of Italy and Europe until September.

The festival will also host a double race between ice-cream masters: eight will compete first, followed by the other eight. The winners will be decreed by a selected jury and the first two of each round will advance to the final. There will also be out-of-competition flavors to give everyone the opportunity not only to taste some of the specialties of the master gelato makers, but also to take a journey into the world of artisan gelato.

Among the specialties of the Roman edition of the Festival there will also be Acea taste, defined by the event's artistic director Vetulio Bondi as "An earl gray tea ice cream with amaretti filling, a real bomb with a very particular aroma". There will also be the Ferrero recipe for Nutella artisan ice cream, a line with five chocolates from the Pernigotti house and the absolutely new “Gelato Roll”, which allows for the express production of artisan ice cream.
