Food that's good for you: Festa a Vico allocates €200.000 to charity

Italian food does not think only of the pleasures of the stomach but also of solidarity. In fact, over 200.000 euros were raised in the three days of the culinary event which attracted 400 chefs from all over Italy to Vico Equense and Seiano, on the Sorrento coast, 70 of whom were starred, for the pleasure of 15.000 people who flocked to the coastal town to savor the latest culinary trends of great Italian cuisine. For three days, the forerunner town on the Sorrento coast was transformed into an "open-air kitchen" because the Festival involves everything and everyone (as many as 100 shops have lent themselves as locations to host the preparations of the chefs but also doors and gardens that are open for the occasion). Vico is literally invaded by enthusiasts of the genre and simple tourists. An incredible crowd of onlookers gathers in front of the artisan workshops, shops, newsstands or pharmacies to taste the dishes freshly prepared by the chefs.

Proceeds from the event “Party in Vico” conceived and organized by the starred chef Gennarino Esposito” 17 years ago and which is renewed every year with new proposals and inventions, everything will go to seven non-profit organizations selected by the organization. The "Festa" born as an opportunity for chefs who wanted to discuss their culinary practices and meet pass on the secrets of the different territorialities production has developed over time as a propulsive engine of great Italian cuisine by bringing together great and young chefs: all of them lend their work for free to allow humanitarian projects to be financed with the money collected from the various evenings and many, generously to participate in the event, close their premises for a day or two.

“It is not easy to mobilize an entire town for three days, set up the locations and at the same time be able to make the chefs and guests feel at home – he declares Gennaro Esposito, taking stock of the event – fortunately, a common feeling has been created between those who come to the Fest and those who manage it and this allows the event to work. For this I thank all the chefs, from those on Sundays to the multi-starred chefs, for the enthusiasm with which they participated, demonstrating, once again, that they are the soul of the Fest and have now embodied its spirit. I was truly struck by the exceptional quality of the dishes presented at the Cena delle Stelle and by the products displayed at "soSTAnza", our "craftsmen's square" which this year intrigued many insiders because it is representative of the many gastronomic facets of our territory" .

Among the numerous initiatives planned the Dinner of the Stars, the key event of the culinary event, lined up the elite of Italian cuisine that is difficult to replicate in any other event.
