Ikea sells more in Italy than in Sweden

In 2016, turnover in our country grew by 4,5%, to 1,7 billion - We thus became the 5th country for Ikea sales in the world, overtaking Russia and Sweden

Ikea sells more in Italy than in Sweden

Ikea continues to grow in Italy, to the point that our country has become for the accounts of the most important company of mother Sweden. The furniture giant archives the Italian 2016 with revenues of 1,709 billion euros, up 4,5% on the 1,676 of the previous year. Furniture represents 57% of turnover, with a growth of 5,1%, while furnishing accessories 43%, with an increase of 3,5%.

Performances that have allowed Italy to become the 5th country for sales in the world (it was the 7th) overcoming Russia and, indeed, Sweden: 931 million euros of sales for furniture and 670 million euros for furnishing accessories, where the best results are represented by products for the table (+13%).

Italy confirms the third supplier country of the Ikea Group after China and Poland, with 7,8% of purchases for the 340 Ikea stores around the world. Growth of 5,9% also for Ikea Food (restaurant, bar and food), which with 96.9 million euros represents 5,7% of the company's turnover.

Ikea stores have welcomed 43,4 millions of visitors, of which 6,7 million are Ikea Family members and 220 Ikea Business members. On the employment front, Ikea Italy employs 6.570 people, 91 % of which indefinitely, with a prevalence of women (58%), an average age of 40 years and 64 different ethnicities represented.
