Thirty days of strike for Iberia pilots. The union representatives of the pilots of the Spanish flag carrier have proclaimed a 30-day strike until July to protest against the creation of the low-cost Iberia Express, after a failed mediation attempt proposed by former Labor Minister Manuel Pimentel. Every Monday and Friday from 9 April to 20 July the pilots will express their dissent. For the union, the creation of Iberia Express would be in breach of the agreement entered into upon the merger with British Airways e it would lead to the dismissal of more than 5 workers and a deterioration of working conditions throughout the company.
Iberia had already been forced to cancel almost a third of its scheduled flights last year due to more than 10 days of strike by Iberia pilots.
